Get the intensity of an immage

Hi I have a polarized immage and it is in gray scale, i want tu select a region in the immage en get the avrage of intensity. I know that exist a command "regionprops" that help for my problem.
I link the immage that I'm using, I would be very grateful if someone would help me

imcrop() to select a region and get backed the cropped image.
mean2() to get the average intensity of the cropped region.
regionprops() is not useful for this purpose.

THXXX A LOTTTT, but after the execution of the code "cropped = imcrop(img);" i select the area of intrest" does not go ahead with the execution

imcrop() will display the image you pass in. You click on the image and drag to mark out a box. When you are satisfied, you right click and select "Crop image".
