Yes. Parallel Computing Toolbox that you install with R2010a will be compatible with MATLAB R2010a, i.e. there is a R2010a version of PCT.
This is the case with all add-ons. When you install a particular version of MATLAB, you also install the corresponding toolbox for that version. You don't upgrade just MATLAB. You upgrade MATLAB and any other add-ons that you have license for.
So the only question is whether you have the license for that toolbox.

Understand, but we here at JHU/APL are using R2010a, which came out before the PCT was released in September 2010. Hence my question.

Oops maybe what I missed is that addition of the GPU capability is what was new in Sept 2010?

Parallel Computing Toolbox has been around since 2006. But of course, it depends on whether your organization had a license for it. You say Sept 2010, so it looks like it wasn't added to the license until last fall. There are different license models so you would probably have to talk to your administrator, but in some cases, you may be able to install a R2010a version of PCT with your R2010a MATLAB.
GPU capability was added to the R2010b version of PCT. So you won't have that capability with R2010a.
