Can MATLAB PDE toolbox be used with meshes created with other methods?

Just as the title says, is it possible to use MATLAB PDE toolbox with meshes created with other methods.

I have my own FEM and FEM-related algorithms and routines written in MATLAB, particularly ones related to meshing. However, I've yet to find a better interface for applying boundary conditions than PDE toolbox (short of a full GUI). Is it possible to use PDE toolbox to apply BC's to a mesh generated by my own code (assuming arrays are of the same format)?
