Is it possible to simulate variable transmission line parameters in simpowersystems?

I am trying to model a device that changes transmission line inductance in-situ. I have a dynamic power systems model in simpowersystems and would like to incluide this variable inductance for the purpose of modeling control methods to damp oscillations.

I've tried a variable inductor from another toolkit, but it produces errors. Perhaps there is a clash between simpowersystems function blocks that model the transmission lines (e.g. PI model) and circuit elements from other toolboxes?

Any ideas on how I can model the variable inductance? My device is not power electronics based, so the FACTS models aren't very useful.
