Cantilever beam carrying loads in simscape

Hello I have made a beam in simscape and would like to know how to make it cantilever, add loads, and measure the torsion/angle as well as the deflection at the end of the beam. I did find this https://uk.mathworks.com/help/releases/R2019a/physmod/sm/ref/generalflexiblebeam.html which has this example smdoc_flexible_cantilever_channel but it doesn't really explain why it does all the bits it does
