Is there a way to record audio from webpages?

I am trying to record a google meet call and then pass that recording through a filter. I was curious if there was anyway to record a webpage and not just your microphone. Thanks!

If that audio would be available as an audiostream that would probably be relatively easy to do. I doubt that is the case, so you might need an external program to capture the audio. Maybe a tool like OBS will do the trick.

Note that in many jursidiction you might need permission from the other people in the call to record them. Even if that is not a legal requirement, I would suggest you do so out of politeness.

This is for a school project, so we arent violating anyone's privacy haha. Moreover, the program needs to do everything on its own, unfortunately, we cannot use outside programs to help the program along. Is there no function in MATLAB that simply records what the primary playback device is outputting?

This might be what you're looking for. It does require the audio toolbox, but if your school set this assignment and provides the Matlab licence, that should not be an issue.
