Implementing "IMREAD" function in real time

I am currently working on a project that has to do with the capturing of images with a camera. I want a matlab syntax that can read images from a target folder as soon as the images go into it. I would greatly appreaciate if anyone can give me a clue on this.

If your MATLAB program has control of the camera, call getsnapshot() followed by image() and drawnow. If not, repeatedly call dir() and look for changes, then identify the new file and call imread() and imshow() if a new image appeared in the folder. Not sure how fast it will be though. Should appear "real time" if your frame rate is low enough.

Thanks for the input @Image Analyst but my matlab does not have control of the camera. my matlab can only have access to the folder in my PC.

Then I guess you used the second method I mentioned, right?
