MATLAB beeps on every keystroke in editor

Sometimes I will open a file in the editor, and every time I push down a key, I get a beep.

This makes editing a document containing more than 2-3 characters very hard!

This only happens occasionally. I might switch between two open documents, and only hear the beeping for one document and not the other.

When this happens, I just mute my computer, but this is not much of a solution

I don't know how to construct a minimal working example.

What version of MATLAB are you on, and what's contained (approximately) in the file you are editing when it occurs?

It seems like it can be any sort of file. I'll respond with details the next time it happens to me.
