Unusable uiaxes/axes in apps

It seems that uiaxes or axes components in apps are generally not usable. They are extremely slow and unresponsive.

I tested it with Matlab2021a/Linux and Matlab2020b/Windows. In both cases the performance is unacceptable!

I know there are many other related questions, but I can't believe that still no solution/workaround exists for this issue.
