Doesn't Matlab's built-in Tesseract OCR work on calculator font?

I have a simple image showing timer and ocr() is failing to recognise the text. Any idea why?

Did you try the suggestions from this thread? Or this one?

Thanks for the links. I tried the suggestions there and trained on a new dataset which seems promising.
