I need help writting a code that can open and read a given file, that can calculate the fourier transform of a signal. The code also needs to be able to plot that FT and put only the positive values of the frequency. Any idea of how I could start this?

Start with "open and read a file". It depends on the file format, how this must be done. So please explain, what kind of file you mean.
For the Fourier transformation simply call fft().
