Why does the Regression Estimation 1-D demo in the Wavelet Toolbox 3.0.1 (R14SP1) not work?

I am trying to run the Regression Estimation 1-D demo in the Wavelet Toolbox. It loads fine, but when it gets to Slide 2, it just hangs with the message "Wait ... computing" and does not do anything. This also happens when I choose AutoPlay. I have seen this behavior on Linux and Windows.

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 3 (R14SP3). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:

We have verified that there is a bug in Wavelet Toolbox 3.0.1 (R14SP1) in the way that the Regression Estimation 1-D demo runs.

There are currently no known workarounds.
