Simulink simulations run（or open models） relatively slowly (compared with versions from 10+ years ago); in my personal experience, they are not as fast (or flexible, fine-grained control) as controlling things directly with pure MATLAB code.
Interesting question this! Can I pick both? Hahaha, just kidding ;)
