The Graphics and App Building Blog just launched its first article on R2025a features, authored by Chris Portal, the director of engineering for the MATLAB graphics and app building teams.
Over the next few months, we'll publish a series of articles that showcase our updated graphics system, introduce new tools and features, and provide valuable references enriched by the perspectives of those involved in their development.
To stay updated, you can subscribe to the blog (look for the option in the upper left corner of the blog page). We also encourage you to join the conversation—your comments and questions under each article help shape the discussion and guide future content.

It's amazing what a poor job the Mathworks does explaining advanced 3D graphics. I have a manuscript in prepartion for submital for publication and the hang up is rendering a 3D object with cut-outs. Specifically., if I look up Matlab's documentation for "isocaps" with their brain MRI scan example, I can make no sense of the code. The instructions are just too cryptic. Sorry to have to post this complaint.

I've been there, I know it's frustrating.

In order to understand how the documentation on volume visualizations could be improved, I need to know more about where you're stuck. I could come up with possibilities but hypotheticals often differ from real world context.

I suggest you contact tech support and provide an example of what you're trying to do and how the documentation isn't helping with that. That will help you get unstuck and it will help to pinpoint potential areas of improvement in the documentation. If you do contact tech support, mention this thread.

In case you haven't come across this page below, it may be helpful. The iso- graphics functions can be dense. You're definitely not alone.
