FCSM (Finite Cross-Section Method) provides a means to quantify the magnitude of various degrees of freedom (DOF) in analysis of mode shapes. Quantified measures of DOFs in mode shapes aids in mode shape recognition, in particular for highly coupled beam-type structures such as wind turbine blades and wings that involved highly coupled bending and torsional modes of vibration.
