Calculating AML Estimates of two unknowns???

Hi all,

I am supposed to calculate AML estimates of x and y, that fit into the following equation. The procedure that I am supposed to go through is follows:

1. Choose an initial x,y

2. Calculate g_i and h_i

3. Insert them into the given matrix equation and calculate least squares for (x,y) in terms of s, where s = x^2 + y^2

I don't know how to do the last step. Could you please help me?
