Electric vehicle simulation in simscape domain

Hello everyone,
I am trying to simulate an EV in the MATLAB simulink platform. I have successfully completed the vehicle simulation with a battery pack as the only energy storage device.
Now, I want to see how the vehicle performs, if I happen to use other energy storage devices like the supercapacitors. I have been using the simscape platform for the entire simulation. In doing so, I am facing the following issues:
- Whenever I connect the simscape supercapacitor block to the vehicle, and on applying the drive cycle, the vehicle velocity seems to be zero(0). It seems, the power from the supercapacitor is not being fed into the motor.
- I also want to estimate the state of charge of the supercapacitor pack at the end of the drive cycle.
Could anyone help me out in resolving these issues?
Thank you for your time.

Hi Ankan,
On the first issue, can you share the model to give some more insight. I would suggest at looking at the initialization conditions and also trying to increase the sizing of the supercapcitor to see if it is maybe a power sizing issue.
For the state of charge estimation, you could try a linear estimate based on the voltage. Otherwise, you can take a look at the SOC estimation for Lithium Ion and customize it for your application-
