I'm trying to compare two sets of ecg data in a figure. I want the plots to overlay each other. I need to offset so the two line up, any suggestions?

See if the Signal Processing Toolbox alignsignals (link) function will help you do what you want. (It is relatively recent. I do not remember when it was introduced, and that information is not in the documentation.)
