how to save matlab figure in format of .fig

i am using R2016a and trying to save figure as .fig. it saves but when i opening the figure it is open the matlab code not opening the figure.i attached saved figure below

It works fine for me, does your code have the same name as the figure? If so, try changing that.

figure
%disp fugure here, plot/imshow/surf etc
savefig('figureFile.fig'); % 'figureFile' save file name, you can change it.
%To open it use following
openfig('figureFile.fig');
