Matlab Simulink hardware design - Do we need a third party simulator?

Hello: I am going to use Simulink with HDL coder for hardware implementation (in FPGA) of the critical sections of my design. Do we need to buy a third party simulator like ModelSim Questa for hardware simulation? We will be using Xilinx VC 707 board. We also have Vivado, which has a simulator. Could you please let me know if I should buy Modelsim/Questa type simulator? Thanks Regards Janaka

You can run the generated HDL and testbench in the vivido simulator. However, if you want to run HDL cosimulation (that is, running Simulink along with HDL in the simulator), you will need ModelSim.
