Back in R2015a, I could name physical signals in SimScape. I could then access their logged data after running the simulation from simlog. Now, in R2018b, this feature seems to have dissappeared. I used to be able to simply double-click the signal line in the diagram and type in a name. What happened to this feature? Is there no way to name physical signals anymore?

I am running R2018b and dont have that issue. Sometimes I do find I have to triple click or hover my mouse over the signal first and then double click. Are any of your old files still showing the labels? Can you edit one of those? Documentation also supports feature is still working so maybe you have a glitch?

My old .slx files do not display the signal names I gave them in R2015a. If I hover the mouse over the signal first then double- or gazillion-click it, no joy.
Indeed, the doccumentation does say "Name a signal line: Double-click signal and type name". Looks to me from Askay's answer on 28 Dec 2018 that this is a bug that The Mathworks is working on.
Thank you, Mark, for your helpful answer.

This is currently not supported. Our teams are already aware of this.

The loss of this feature breaks the functioning of some of my older SimScape diagrams. It is nice to be able to name a signal and then access data from the signal in simlog after the simulation has been run. But I do see the complication this can have if, for example, I name a node in an electrical circuit. Sure, I can inspect the voltage of that node, but if there are branches on that node, the current depends on which branch of the node I want to examine. So a single signal node name is not enough.
I will revert to including "zero" ohm resistors and the like for this purpose. I prefer that over adding current sensors as they clutter the diagram less.
Thank you for letting me know that this feature is indeed no longer supported.
