i am trying to record a sound(audio signal) and it keeps giving me error's on get audiodata, can you help me identify the problem?

x(1 : 2000: 10000) = 1;

plot(x);

a = audiorecorder(10000, 8, 1);

record(a, 5);

b = getaudiodata(a, 8)

What is the purpose of the shown code? I cannot guess it. The first line will not run:

x = (10000, 1);

Perhaps you mean

x = zeros(10000, 1);

You cannot hear the created signal, because a 5Hz signal consisting on 5 single peaks only is not audible.

Sorry i should be been more clear before.

The aim is to create 5 audio signals, play the signals and the record the sound so i can analyse the data later

If you want to specify that ‘a’ is an int8 data type, try this:

b = getaudiodata(a, 'int8')

I have taken everything into consideration and modified my code.

However my problem now is i get an error when i want to play my recorded sound.

"Error using sound line 33). Audio data must be real or a floating point".

b = getaudiodata(a, 'int8'), i have also done it without the 'int8'

Change the data type to either 'single' or 'double':

b = getaudiodata(a, 'double');

You might have to change that in all your other relevant function calls as well.

It would most likely default to whatever the data type is in ‘a’. You may not need to specify the data type.

It also depends on the function you use. See the documentation section on Play Audio (link) for an extended discussion. It gives examples for both the sound function and the audioplayer play function.
