How to count the number of leaves?

Count the number of leaves in this image

It required testing with multiple ways, may it works-

1. Segmnet the green part from the images
2. Consider the upper half part of Image, so that it cancel the junction of all leaves at the lower part.
3. Counts the blobes (If leaves are still connected, you can try with imrode and other morpho operations to disjoint them)
4. Counts the connected blobs.

It takes times, therefore I didinot tried with code, but this problem can be solved.
