how to extract the breast area from colored thermal image?

hi, I'm working with breast thermal images to detect inflammations that have red to white color as it showed in images. but I need to remove the area underneath the breast and get only the breast area . I've tried active contour to get the ROI but it always get lost. could anyone help me?

Get the original temperature image, not the pseudocolored image. I'm sure if it's a legitimate clinical study, you'll have a camera good enough to provide that -- it won't be some cheap bottom of the line, cell phone camera (like a FLIR One).

Isn't there any other way to get the breast area from these images? the database is only offered these images and I have to work with them
