Matched filter MATLAB implementation for Binary baseband / Antipodal digital communication system.

Hello,
I have 10^6 bits I want to transmit through this antipodal digital comm system.
Consider I am using a rectangular pulse where the oversampling frequency is 8
Hence each bit's antipodal representation will be = +-(1/sqrt(8))[1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1]
How I can implement a matched filter for this system and sample at optimum decision instant?
I have seen several codes on this but I don't understand how they work.
I know that at the output of the channel will be the input antipodal stream will be added to wgn.
I also understand the fact that the matched filter will convolve the recieved signal with the matched filter response (+1/sqrt(8)[1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ]) But what I don't understand is where do I sample each bit to ensure maximum signal power and how can I adjust the threshold ?
