When trying to update matlab 2020a got "Something unexpected occurred" error - log data provided below.

So, I'm sure you did that, and what did they say when you called them? They will usually work tirelessly to get you installed, and can even drive your computer for you, unlike us. Are you sure you shutdown MATLAB when it told you to?

I also had problems with R2020a Update 1. What everntually worked for me was to launch the update from MATLAB, close MATLAB, wait 15 minutes, then try the update again.
EDIT —
I did the same approach with Update 2 just now, and had no problems. It is necessary to wait for everything related to MATLAB to shut down before installing the Update. In Windows, use Task Manager and Resource Monitor to be certain those conditions are met.

I had the same problem. Temporarily turn off firewall solves the issue for me.
