Numerical Quantum Mechanics in 3D

Live Script exploring numerical solutions to the time-independent Schrodinger equation in three dimensions.

Vous suivez désormais cette soumission

This educational Live Script uses a second-order difference method to solve the time-independent Schrodinger equation in three dimensions. The eigenstates of a general quantum harmonic oscillator inside a box are found and compared to analytic results. The Live Script and method can be applied to similar problems.
The script illustrates several visualization techniques including a point cloud. It also shows how to interpolate a numerical wave function and then save the interpolation as a continuous function for later use.
This Live script may interest students and educators in physics, chemistry, and related fields. 'Try this" suggestions, 'Challenges', hyperlinks, and references are included for further exploration. Additional Live Scripts by the author are available[1].
