Matlab: how to model a device that can operate as both an inverter and rectifier?

I'm currently trying to model a bidirectional ev charger, and one of my challenges currently is how to create a model where, when going one direction, the device acts as an inverter, but going the opposite direction or changing something about it (e.g. its switching frequency) causes it to go from an inverter to a rectifier. Any help to point me in the right direction is appreciated, thank you in advance!

You did not specified which toolbox you want to use. If you plan using Simscape Electrical then you can directly use the Converter (Three-Phase) block or the Average-Value Voltage Source Converter (Three-Phase). These block work in both inverter and rectifier modes.
Check the DC Fast Charger for Electric Vehicle example for more insights. I hope this helps.
