Kelp Wanted - Segmenting Kelp Forests
The goal of this DrivenData challenge is to develop an algorithm that can use provided satellite imagery to predict where kelp is present and where it is not. The presence and growth of kelp is an important measurement for evaluating the health of many coastal ecosystems, as it provides habitats suitable for a variety of species, increasing biodiversity and providing stability. The ability to easily monitor kelp forests could be a huge step forward in coastal climate science.
